Chamber for Good – Quickly.

Erin Greskovich, Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce Operations ManagerThe Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce recently launched a great new program… Chamber for Good! http://chamberforgood.com/coralsprings. The program is designed to partner local businesses with local charities to provide direct expertise and resources and is managed locally by Erin Greskovich, Operations Manager at the Chamber. So often we write checks to national organizations and we never know who or how we are helping. With this program, we help local and KNOW who and how we are helping! Sometimes, quite quickly!

Chamber For Good Group of Volunteers and CharitiesThe Chamber had their first meeting on September 10th, which was open to business and charities. As the owner of a local business (www.3Deers.com, LLC), an active Chamber member, and a Board Member for a Homeless Shelter (www.stlaurencechapel.org)… I had a triple calling to check out the program.

Chamber For Good Breakfast sponsored by Dyan's Country KitchenThe gathering had quit a group, many folks I have met through various networking meetings. Some were there to solicit help for charities, others to help by offering their time, money and business expertise. There was even a wonderful breakfast sponsored by Dyan’s Country Kitchen (www.dyanscountrykitchen.com) for everyone to enjoy. Only… people got so wrapped up in the excellent presentations and discussion that hardly anyone ate (I personally, did not make that error!).

Alexa Abbanat, Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce Communications & Events CoordinatorAs we were leaving the meeting, Alexa Abbanat, another enthusiastic member of the Coral Springs Chamber Staff (http://www.cschamber.com/pages/meet-our-staff), asked if I could use the leftovers for the St. Laurence Chapel Homeless Shelter. Wow! Of course I could! Dyan’s Country Kitchen had provided Bagels and Bacon, Sausages and Sweets… it was quite the spread!

Alexa, Erin and I quickly packed up the breakfast and packed my little red Honda 2000 with the surprising large trunk… we fit everything! I had just enough time to make it over to the shelter and surprise them with the special treat.

Nurse Lynette, Lorry Herdeen (Executive Director), and VolunteerLorry Herdeen, Executive Director at St. Laurence Chapel Homeless Shelter was thrilled. The staff and volunteers helped bring in the food and the clients were very excited as well. The clients get all the staples they need at the two meals they can receive each day… but not so often special treats. The spread from Dyan’s Country Kitchen was well received and appreciated.

From everyone at St. Laurence Chapel Homeless Center to Erin, Alexa, the Coral Springs Chamber for Good team and certainly Dyan’s Country Kitchen…

Thank you!
