St. Laurence Chapel is proud to welcome three new members to the Board of Directors for the Homeless Center!
Mary Dent-Maher - Board Member
Mary has worked in non profit for a while. She currently works at a non profit childcare center as the Director. The serve families that are economically disadvantaged. She has lived in Boca Raton for over 35 years. She is newly inducted as a board member of St. Laurence Chappel Day Shelter. She has been friends with Lory for a long time and it was Lory who got her interested in involvement with St. Laurence Chapel.

Michael was brought to St. Laurence Chapel by his wife, Mary Dent-Maher. He is anewly inducted member. He has just begun to get involved by attending meetings and supporting the board. He hasn’t yet had the opportunity to volunteer hands on at the shelter, but he is eager to get involved.
Michael has worked in the past to help others working with legal aid and as a criminal defense lawyer. He has also worked as a pubic defender for low income people. So for him it was a natural progression towards St. Laurence Chapel.
Lonette Avery - Nurse / Board Member
Lonette graciously volunteers her services as a nurse at St. Laurence Chapel Day Shelter everyday from 8am to 1pm. She assists the clients with medical issues as the come in. She does her best to triage the situation. If she does her best to treat them in the office or if necessary get them to a doctor.
Some of the things she deals with on a daily basis are blisters and sores on their feet from walking. Assisting those with medical conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure to name a couple. She also tries to help them manage their medications. She gives them information on what they’re taking and how best to take it. Many of them get in fights or suffer from substance abuse so she does her best to treat them for the issues that result.
